Hi I’m Shira, owner of The Beauty Movement and mom to a sassy two-and-a-half-year-old named Eve. Eve has witnessed my love of makeup since the day she was born—I was literally applying makeup in my hospital bed minutes after delivering her. (What? Photos were going to be taken!) Eve has nicknamed me Mommy Makeup and I couldn’t be prouder.
Since transitioning from a carefree twentysomething to a mom in my thirties, both my life and skin have changed and I’ve had to adjust my makeup and skincare routines accordingly. I feel like the day I turned 30, my skin was like, “Whoa! It’s time for a change.” I now wear more moisturizer and less makeup—and shockingly, I think I look better with a little less makeup.
All these changes have inspired me to start teaching makeup tutorials. There are so many products out there and so much marketing, but very little education about how to actually use these products (or which ones to skip) to make us look our best.
When I teach my clients how to apply their makeup, they leave happier and more confident. When a woman sees herself wearing makeup that’s applied in the most flattering way for her, it’s like she’s looking at herself for the first time. I absolutely love helping my clients enhance their natural beauty. In my world, makeup is fun and also very therapeutic, with the power to change lives—or at the very least, give women the confidence boost they need to succeed. This is why 2017 will be the year of the tutorial for me. Visit me in person, or if you’re not in the Greater Toronto Area, check out my Youtube tutorials. I hope I give you the boost you’re looking for.
I am so excited to start this new chapter of blogging and teaching. Women in transitional stages of life face many changes and keeping your makeup and skin on point should be simple.
Follow me on this journey as I give you tips, tricks and tutorials <3
